So this is another rant i guess. As the thread title says people can't enjoy things anymore. Much of this is about movies where somehow super critical people are now looked highly upon perhaps due to some being comedians. Honestly when i went to see planet of the apes and saw a bunch of broken english and semi-intelligent apes i got exactly what i expected and came to the realization at the end of the movie. I mean you don't go to 'dumb and dumber' expecting the most well thought out and thought provoking movie of all time. You expect stupid humor. That said even a dumb action movie or a sort of dumb comedy can be fun from time to time. It's just some people need a freaking masterpiece every time they sit their ass in that seat in a theater or when watching tv.
This kind of happens with some games too. For instance every sub-group has games they play and games they won't and they stick to their fucking group big time. I guess they don't want to be looked down by their gestalt will and hive mind consciousness of their group. From time to time even i enjoy shooters like 'gears of war', 'half life' and 'stalker' or similar and i try not to analyze everything to death. It's not always my cup of tea but some are ok. I just wish 'call of duty' games didn't always copy the last one and shoot another one out the pooper every year. That said 'Call of Duty: Black Ops' had one of the most awesome hilarious moments in a game i remember in recent memory.

What if the End Times WHFB thing actually goes through? Will that mean you'll have to delete the endlessly popular Bretonnia board and replace it with power armoured human faction, or something?

Haha well people are suggesting there will be a pre-end times (possible 8th edition) and post-end times (the new stuff and beyond).
I'm unsure what to think of it as some factions got screwed hard and some end times units are very broken (like nagash, karl franz the ascended and various other garbage). I mean lizardmen and dwarfs got screwed over so hard that one or the other or both may have been squatted by the skaven (a success but even i feel terrible how nearly complete the skaven victory was over the dwarfs and lizardmen). A ton of the factions are being destroyed, big parts of lore are being changed and all sorts of stuff.
That said some of this is fine by me. I don't mind nagash coming back and i don't mind the undead being united or the elves all being united though the whole thing about malekith winning so far is weird since he always seemed like the bad guy.
So i'm on the fence about it. I think as far as the lore goes i enjoyed a good deal of it even though i liked queek and he's dead (barely had any face time as he was only introduced last skaven army book), i liked clan pestilens and they're almost completely wiped out, ikit claw might be dead and probably the 2 greatest warlord clans are completely destroyed from what i've heard (i think it was clan mors and clan rictus that are now destroyed).
All that said the skaven fared pretty well and kicked a whole lot of ass considering. It's usually the good factions that have suffered but i'm feeling rather bad for those good guy factions currently.

Wait.. so the Lizardmen just flew away, died AND ditched the Sauruses, who are a major part of the lizardman army? Who is writing this balderdash?

I don't know all the details as i haven't read any of the 'end times' books. All i know is what i've heard on dakka and at the GW and little elsewhere.

Btw regardless of what happens i won't delete bretonnia but if they get squatted i'll probably have to put discontinued in parenthesis near the army title. Or i could just add the new 9th armies and put post-end times or something. That said i'm not really considering the end times combined armies to be armies themselves yet. I'm kind of waiting till something happens. I suppose if books get combined i will turn some factions into sub-forums for the new main faction they're a part of (like the elves and undead all being combined). Oh and as for who wrote it nobody knows but some have joked it was Mat Ward's last job writing the lore for GW. For all we know it may have been true. Some of the story is awesome while some of it is ridiculous. Honestly considering what the skaven did they fared really well so far. Most of the bad guy factions have fared well but we'll see what the last book brings. That's probably where all the goody two shoes factions fuck over the bad guys. Something tells me nagash and archaeon will have a final show-down and emperor karl franz the ascended is gonna shank whoever barely lives with the help of malekith or some crap. Then the skaven will assassinate them after the skaven have suffered horrible losses. That said the whole world is being destroyed. Ulthuan has sunk and the southlands (africa) and lustria (south america) have been annihilated while naggaroth (north america) has been overrun. I'm honestly rather surprised malekith won. It's kind of cool but so weird and kind of horrifying even if malekith's group sided against the witch elves. |

So what happened to Araby, Ind and Cathay?
The problem here is that quite a few people were waiting for the WHFB universe to be expanded, not just destroyed. I mean, what about the rumoured Fishmen, the islands of ogres and kobolds on the map they released in WD all those years ago?
I can understand that a business has to drop unsuccessful products but in GW's case all those moulds cost serious money to make in the first place. That's why I keep insisting this move is financial suicide..
If, however, they keep the older sets available through mail order then at least they'll keep the fans of the older edition armies happy.
Yeah you could probably just add in a 'post end times' section with a board for each new army. The chit-chat seems to be pointing to 'forces of light' vs 'forces of darkness', at least to begin with, allowing you to take dwarfs and elves in your Empire army.
This is actually similar(ish) to older Empire lists where you could take Imperial Dwarfs as a regiment. In fact when I was a kid I used to play Empire and my dwarf regiment was my favourite unit.

I think all the old empires in the world not mentioned were destroyed. The fish people really needed to be fleshed out. I can't believe i never saw that faction even hit the board before all this end times crap but if they really do go the cthulu route then chances are it may be an end of the world type scenario. Who knows maybe they'll be in end times though i kind of doubt it at this point. Personally it sounds like wasted potential to me.
I dunno how to feel about bretonnia possibly not existing anymore. Yes it has flavor but 2+ and 1+ armor save opponents esp. with ward saves are not fun to fight. It's like fighting an army of termintors in a game without having the proper weapons to fight them with. I wouldn't say they're terrible as when they are done charging horses tend to suck. That said it's kind of a one trick pony as far as the army goes (quite literally 'one trick pony' with horses).
