It's not a bad show. It was never really my favorite show but i know nerds seemed to love it more than anybody else. It referenced things and that was ok. However i'm going to talk about other things for a little while.
How are these 3 even scamming people out of money? I know this question seems assinine to ask about a cartoon show but have you seen the stuff these 3 do providing entertainment to an otherwise boring neighborhood? Every new episode there's something new they're doing whether it's detective work, building forts or providing some kind of endless entertainment for a bunch of neighborhood kids just for fucking quarters. In one episode they even build a cardboard box city. Now i know it's probably unsafe but imagine how many homeless people they'd integrate into society that way
. I kid, i kid. Hell if they solved world hunger with a scam for 25 cents i'd pay it. Fucking cheap ass neighborhood kid bastards. I have seen places charge more money for less entertainment like except for 3rd world countries where you could probably see a cock-fight for really cheap. You'd think rolph (however his name was spelled) would understand this being from a very humble ass-backwards village.
Anyway what pissed me off more than anything is they do stuff for quarters for jawbreakers and usually one way or another lose them at the end of the show making you think bad deeds get their return. Hey guess what? FUCK YOU! These 3 boys have done stuff most people couldn't do when older. I mean take any and all the other people in the show combined and they'll still be less interesting than ed, edd and eddy. I mean you have a jock asshole which is always a jerk and a douche to people, you have one clueless hot girl (which is like the one half-way decent girl in the show and everything about her and the guys is like the internet and relationships in it in a nutshell), you have rolph which is interesting and gross with his weirdness, you have the weird kid that's odd and mostly boring except for his imaginary friend plank, you have the gross ass kanker sisters, you have sarah the annoying bitch little sister and jimmy her boyfriend that's clearly the feminine one but maybe he's going to grow up to be gay. Who knows?
Anyway what i meant by this is eddy is scamming people and everything and the leader of the bunch but he's always finding out clever ways to make a quick buck. Edd makes all the stuff and makes everything halfway decent. Ed is dumb but he's funny and cheery and plenty of comic relief if it was ever lacking. What makes me sad is that these guys can't fit in (we've been there i'm sure) and though every character indeed has character and most people have filled one spot or another i have the most empathy for the three ed's. Maybe that's the point and maybe the show is genius in a way esp. because the final conclusion to the show didn't end the way it began. That takes balls and i admire that. Everybody grew up a little in the end and they finally get accepted into the neighborhood's kids when you see eddy's brother is just a total asshole that picked on him mercilessly like all big brothers. He made him up to be awesome and then you feel bad for eddy and he learns not to be as bad or false in the end. It's quite touching actually.
