I'm sorry but that new rule is just retarded. You know what you could do? Remove the entire team from their base and just add a platform for them to stand on until they can shoot the weapons through the slits. That or you could add something below the plastic base.

^ I was thinking about this. Make them stand on sandbags, or something.
Greenstuffing sandbags is a bit tricky, but rocks, slate or crates could all fit the bill. Then again original Imperial army had lascannon as shoulder mounted single infantry weapons, kind of like the classic marines forge world peddles now.
Just type 'rogue trader imperial army 40k' into ebay and look for the classic '87/ 89 models with the shoulder mounted lascannon.

There are some things that make no sense in 6th ed:
-Allies cannot enter your bastions under any circumstance but your enemy can.
-Grey Knights allying with Necrons as allies of convenience
-Space Wolf/ Ork alliance; even if they're desperate allies this should never happen. Also Yarrick/ Thraka allances
-Your infantryman can't see over a wall because the model is kneeling but a squadron of 3 leman russes can see through fellow squadron tanks for maximum shooty effectiveness, just as if they weren't there.
Despite that I love the randomness. Psychic powers have also been expanded on in great detail.

Yeah allies being unable to enter bastions sounds dumb. Not sure how i feel about buying terrain for points either. It sounds really odd to me. In fact a lot of 6th edition sounds odd to me. In fantasy everybody can ally with another group but usually they have desperate allies and such. Still it's a bit odd in fantasy that high elves and dwarfs are absolutely cool with each other considering their pasts. In fantasy there's a side of disorder, a side of order and then the neutral parties (ogres and tomb kings). Ogres and tomb kings are middle ground with everybody though at least tomb kings would want to kill everybody it seems. If ogres/tomb kings ally with anybody it's kind of a middle level alliance but it always is. If forces of disorder and forces of order fight together it's a desperate alliance so there's more disadvantages than anything really. If they're from the same side whether it's disorder or order but not neutral then they're totally cool with each other and it's pretty beneficial. That said sadly dark elves and skaven degrade any alliance they might have even if it's an alliance with their own race. All this said games i've played usually avoid the whole allies rules completely anyway as it seems to dis-balance the game for people and is usually more of a fluffy thing than anything else. Lol what about a grey knights/daemons alliance . Yeah that whole kneeling thing is ridiculous and should be fixed. If a unit can have some overly decorated banner and not be shot for it due to convenience than we should be able to have our guys kneeling and still be able to shoot through slits in aegis defense lines and etc. Magic in fantasy can be pretty huge at times but it all depends. If you get magic off frequently it can definitely boost your guys and do some nasty shit. Usually there are 2 or 3 spells that'll be good for you at any time and quite a few which are considered almost completely useless by everybody though esp. if they're magic missiles.

You only need one of the two HWT models to be able to see over the wall, since they are on a single base it doesn't matter which of the two is taller.

Maybe your heavy weapons teams can hover. That would probably instantly be deemed extra heretical and everybody even remotely involved would be shot to death for the very idea of using their brain for something other than smashing it into the enemy like a blunt object . Plus skimmer technology is heretical or something unless space marines do it. Space marines can get away with infinitely more for some reason and they're a bunch of genetic super-human monstrosities that are pretty much mutants. I always enjoy these stupid little rules or inconsistencies in the rules or with normal logic. I mean there's sci-fi fantasy and then there's stuff that makes no sense on a very basic level. One instance is an explosive hitting a building and all the guys inside getting a cover save. I remember in the old guard codex i had a bunch of guardsmen that were spread out with the 'camo cloaks' upgrade so they had like a +3 cover save. Some dude shot a vindicator's demolisher cannon into the wreckage of the building and killed like 2 or 3 guys out of 10 of them. I don't think it was even enough for a panic check but it hit quite a few and they survived it ok. I guess camo protects against explosions and stuff even if it basically hits everything .

Denying the cover saves altogether makes more sense.
