I've got a ton of fantasy models to paint so they'll show up here as and when I pull myself away from all that other 40k stuff I have to paint. (Oh woe is me with my problem of having too much to paint and only enough leisure time to paint most of it).
Criticism both positive and negative are accepted forms of currency on this thread. Opinions will also be cashed if you have a cheque guarantee card.

Here we have some delightful elves I oh so skillfully painted when I was 14. Back then GW got pretty much all of my pocket money and what I wanted was models so I often found myself using whichever brush was least ruined and using whatever paints hadn't died inside of the screw top since the last time I'd pried it open. Ah those were the days, I had no patience for painting, undercoats were the luxury of a few lucky models, I didn't know how to drybrush and I was lucky to hit the main details I was aiming for let alone the fine ones. And that's the difference that 14 years and a little patience (all two hours of it) makes. I still need to find the guy a shield though.

Here are some different color schemes i have in my head. Yellow or white albino lizards (pink eyes). A volcano based lizardmen army with red and lots of black on armored skin areas (possibly lighter underbelly colors). Give it bright colors like blues, reds, oranges and greens to signify poison for skinks with ranged poison weapons possibly. Give chameleon skinks a chameleon look by throwing rocks and junk on the bases and then blending them into the bases. Also you could go for an arctic light blue color if you wish but that might be a bit odd. I hope these ideas have helped.

I like the idea of the rats though i'm not sure how well they turned out with some of that lighting. Would a toothpick or something help you shape the rats? Then again i'm sure there are hobby tools much better than that. I guess this tool would work but in my head a toothpick would be pretty precise. I did make use of a modelling tool, I actually have a whole set of them. It is actually really fiddly working on such a small scale and getting the putty into place without it coming away.
Right now I am still definitely a novice using putty so I think I'll have to practice and read up on it.
I think in real life they might look a bit better, partly because the picture blows them up to about twice the size.
Right now I'm thinking that I'll model a box of plague monks this way (something to buy in the near future perhaps) and then decide when I see them all grouped together.
That leaves me with the problem of what to do with the other Skaven until then, I suppose I could start painting them now and then base them later.

Wow! Can't belive I missed all of this.
The plague rat looks really gritty and dirty. If I'm looking at the rats correctly they look a bit cartooney, but that's fine. So.. you're planning fantasy skaven? I'm ten goblins shy of 2k with orcs and goblins. I still have to assemble the last 10 and get painting. ;P

Having seen empty's sculpted rats first hand, I think he should sculpt an entire army of giant rats. Maybe just drill holes and use stripped electrical cable for the tails.

Oddly enough i never use giant rats but it seems they are good in small units for the enemy to have to take care of. I've heard they can tie up war machines. It all seems so odd to me though as almost nothing in the skaven army aside from the doomwheel and hellpit can actually move very fast and those are both units that probably move 10 or so inches on average. A fairly fast unit would be nice for handling something i guess.
I once considered rat swarms but they also cost a lot money-wise just like giant rats. Thing is rat swarms though with Ld 10 they do have the unstable rule. That means when they lose combat (which is likely) they take even more wounds and since they probably don't benefit from steadfast they'll probably lose a combat by a lot and just run away anyway or get cut down. Currently steadfast sounds better and i'd probably prefer to just run skaven slaves in fairly decent sized units. Maybe have a leader boosting their leadership from behind and then shoot into their combat with my guns since skaven can shoot into combats that have only skaven slaves in them as the owning player's units.

If the leader model can't get targeted then go for it. It'll cost a fair bit to set up a big rat swarm.

These are nearly done now. I need to finish up the basing add a couple more highlights and possibly a wash or two where needed and find any little mistakes and correct them. Since I might not get around to that for a while I thought I'd share one of the pictures I took.

Looking pretty good. I'm not a fan of most older models or at least in warhammer fantasy. I feel like warhammer fantasy is either really good or average with it's newer models whereas 40k is either great or god awful.
I bought a couple new paints myself (a bronze color and some other color). I mostly just came from the local GW and when at the GW I get an extreme urge to hobby even beyond the normal gaming. Perhaps I should build more guys or paint a little.

Painted three banshee using a wash of Nihilakh Oxide over white and the edge and dry paints. Pretty fast and quite fun. Still need to base these and I might touch them up after getting a look at them under some different lighting. Troll bases just need me to take ten minutes to finish them off. Just need to get around to it.

Older models? You should see some of the trolls I have that predate those by about 10 years at least.
Fantastically detailed work on the trolls, Empty. Also good effect on the banshees. So it was just a straight wash or did you drybrush afterwards?
