Space skaven / Hrud are an idea that GW have been bandying around for quite a while now. Nobody ever thought to design a model range or codex for them officially ever.

That is until last year, when GW competitor, Mantic games released the Veer-myn as a playable army for their new 40k equivalent game, Warpath.

So, do Space Skaven/ the Hrud interest you? Would you ever consider collecting any of this stuff?

Trooper already brought this up with me and while i admit they're cool i'm not as into skaven as i used to be just like i kind of grew out of guard. I love the hell out of the look and feel of the skaven as well as a lot of their lore but i feel they need more impressive conquests in recent history. All the cool stuff they did is usually outside of actually normal fighting and usually involves treachery, assassination and not much else. The only really big things they've done have mostly been undone like killing nagash (nagash is back for like his 3rd time but he's much weaker), conquering a section of lustria with clan pestilens (which was reclaimed again by lizardmen after clan pestilens came back to the skaven society and incited a civil war while losing their poorly defended lustrian holdings because they were gone and they never got them back) and then there's 'the city of pillars' which is a very large dwarf hold that fell to skaven & orcs and goblins but was claimed by the skaven (basically the skaven are fighting against orcs & goblins and dwarfs and have already lost some of 'the city of pillars' to the dwarfs at least). What bothers me is that the biggest thing the skaven have done recently is assault nuln and only kill like half the population. They fought just one main empire city (of like 12) in a surprise attack and didn't even take it. It's not even Altdorf so it's not the biggest deal either. I mean one orc hero sacked like 3 major cities in the empire. I guess the skaven killed most of the empire with 'the black plague' and a portion of bretonnia with a similar pox but their actual armies didn't do much. I dunno it's just disappointing. That said skaven don't really lose their main strongholds for the most part so that's cool. I quite like 'the city of pillars' as queek headtaker is the 2nd ranking dude that fights from there.

So anyway space skaven would interest me i suppose. I dunno if hrud would be like space skaven. If space skaven get the best snipers in the game like they have in fantasy then i'll definitely be interested. I love the kookiness of the skaven but i feel that might be too much like 40k orks if done. Skaven are supposed to have the most dangerous and powerful weapons and war machines so that's always something to look out for. The hellpit abomination is also one of the better if not the best monster available to use.

Hellpit would just be an oversized spawn in 40k terms.

I might consider a small group of hrud in my bizarre xenos lizardman army one day. Seeing as I'll have to make rules for that army from scratch, they might as well include some Hrud allies or a small squad of dark eldar with those weird alien head swaps I got.

If space skaven are done (some say hrud aren't space skaven anymore) then i think all the odd arcane technologies and contraptions should be done. That might be a bit of fun to see.

Those models looked pretty cool and I dug the yellow armour. If anyone is interested in space skaven for 40k that aren't Hrud I believe that Tread from the IGMB has put together a codex for them.

One of his buddies uses it as his faction so it has received a fair bit of testing.

I might give it a shot if i was still into 40k but sadly i have too many armies i want to start right now. Perhaps i could use my skaven from warhammer fantasy as 'counts as' space skaven.
