I saw the Hobbit last week - I liked it a lot. Having read the book over 23 years ago it was good to remember how Bilbo got his precious trinket, just as it was unfolding on the screen.
You tend to forget what gold hoarders dwarves were, but bloody hell was the Dwarf King loaded.
The Troll King was a total disappointment, especially considering he's the major focus of the new GW boxed set. He was actually more gentlemanly than all the elves in the film put together..

I saw it on new year's eve. The movie was really good but i still can't get over how long it was and honestly some of the differences from the book were a bit discomforting. I heard some of it was in the silmarillion or something but i've only ever read 'the hobbit'.
So yeah the movie was long and i remember there being a lot less fight scenes by this point in the book.
